We would like to sincerely thank everyone who particapated each week in the LGS Games 2020 and made this event a great succuess.

We definitely achieved our goals, to keep you active, motivated and connected to the sport you love. We have been amazed by the effort, creativity and joy displayed over this period of isolation. Congratulations for keeping up your training during this difficult time. We wish you well returning to your clubs. With the huge disappointment of Gymnastics Clubs closed and the Tokyo Olympics postponed, we came up with an idea:

LGS Games 2020 – Uniting our Gymnastics Community

All registered gymnasts will represent their Club. At the completion of the Games, the top 3 Clubs will be awarded $$$ vouchers to be used on our NovoActive Club equipment.

Let the Games begin!

The LGS Games began on Sunday 3rd May with an amazing ‘Opening Ceremony. It wasjust a fantastic start, a day full of gymnasts from all over Australia introducing themselves.

The 1st event commenced on Monday 4th May. We were amazed by the incredible enteries, strong handstands, amazing creativitity and a week of fun! You sure didn’t make it easy for the judges Melissa Wu and Peggy Liddick.

This week we moved our focus to push-ups and it has definitely been a week of strength! Be sure to check our LGS Insta around 6pm Sunday to see the winners of the senior and junior catergory.

Competition Rules

1. Safety – At ALL times you must abide by the Gymnastics Australia SAFE home training
guidelines.

NO aerial skills – ensure a safe environment -free of obstacles – perform within your skill level –

2. One entry per event – hashtag #lgsgames2020 – Tag @littlegymshop and your club

3. Events will be judged on difficuty level – creativity – quality – how many or how long

4.Remember this is about fun and being involved

Event Information

Opening Ceremony

A chance to introduce yourself. Add a post (pic or short vid) letting us know a little about yourself. Use hashtag #lgsgames2020 to be featured here on our dedicated Games event page (scroll down to see the live insta stream)

Event 1 – Handstand challenge – the life of a gymnast is upside down

Who doesn’t love a handstand! In this challenge, hold a handstand as best you can. Remember to ensure safe surroundings, help from an adult if required and keep within your skill level and ability. It’s all about how long you can keep your shape, showing your strength and creativity.

Be your best – can you hold a handstand? a handstand shape? handstand shape by a wall? a walking handstand? a press to handstand?

*commences Monday 4th May to Sunday 10th May

Event 2 – Push-up challenge – It’s all about strength

Push-ups really do require strength! In this challenge lets see how many push-ups you can do in 50sec. Think about difficulty level – working from a basic push-up to – clap push-up – diamond push-up – handstand push-up – one armed push-up!!

*commences Monday 11th May – Sunday 17th May


Event 3 – Splits challenge – It’s all about flexibility

Can you do the splits? Are you able to raise your front leg safely? Keeping within your level of flexibility show us your most creative hold

*commences Monday 18th May – Sun 24th May

Event 4 – Balance on one foot challenge

It’s all about balance. In this event you are required to balance on one foot – the challenge is how many things can you balance on the other foot? your hands? your head?

How long can you keep your balance? don’t forget the points for creativity , quality and difficulty level.

*commences Monday 25th May- Sunday 31st May

Event 5 – The combo challenge – It’s all about connecting skills

Can you connect 5 skills? Keeping within the Gymnastics Australia safe home traning guidelines – NO aerials –
be creative and show off your elegant, style and strength as a gymast. MUST keep to your ability level. ** is this a skill my coach/ club allows me to do at home? *** list of skill ideas: front splits/side splits – press to handstand – planche in handstand – one armed handstand – stoop through coming down from handstand – different turns: leg up, leg bent, double turn – leg up in needle – cartwheel – tick tock – front walkover – back walkover – backward roll to handstand – scale in 180 split – flares on the floor – forward roll – backward roll – wolf turns on floor – handstand walking – handstand forward roll – illusion – bridge – arabesque – elbowstand

Each event will run for one week and will focus on SAFE home training, as guided by Gymnastics Australia. – Click here for the Gymnastic Australia Fact Sheet (Training Athletes during club shutdown). The events will cover the attributes of Gymnastics: Strength – Balance – Flexibility – Agility. Each Sunday the top three competitors will be selected by our ‘judging panel’. More event info coming soon.

The top three gymnasts, voted by our judging panel, will receive Gold, silver and Bronze medals. Each event will have 2 categories for junior (under 10) and senior (10+).

Do you need LGS equipment? NO. There will be bonus points for using LGS equipment but there will also be other ways to score bonus points too. More info on ‘bonus point’ system coming soon.
